Surf coaching, the surf house, booking and your first morning: everything you need to know before you come.

Coaching & sessions
What level is the coaching suitable for?
All levels: complete beginners, intermediates working on green waves, and advanced surfers refining technique. Every session is tailored to exactly where your surfing is right now.
Who will be my coach?
Daffa, our head coach, tries to surf with every guest himself. When it gets busy, a local coach he grew up surfing with joins us. Meet Daffa.
How many people per coach?
Never a group. Coaching is always 1:1 or 1:2, with at most two surfers of the same level per coach. On surf trips and day trips the crew stays small, and the coach-to-student ratio never goes above 1:2.
Is surf equipment provided (board, leash, wetsuit)?
Board and leash yes, and the water is warm year-round (27 to 29 °C), so no wetsuit needed. A rash guard is included too.
How does the video analysis work?
Book Surf Coaching with Video Analysis: we film your session, then go through your waves together and break down what to work on next. You keep all your videos. You can also book video analysis on its own. More about video analysis.
Can children learn to surf?
Yes, at any age, as long as they have some swimming experience. Kids are always coached one-on-one, at the same prices as adults. See our kids surf lessons.
What language is the coaching in?
English: relaxed, clear and easy to follow. A few words of Indonesian come free of charge.
Is surfing in Medewi safe for beginners?
Yes, with the right guidance. We start beginners on the soft, sandy beach at Yeh Sumbul, and our coaches read the conditions every day. You’ll only ever be where it’s right for your level.
Will coaching still help if I’ve been surfing for years?
Absolutely. There’s always room to grow. We work on technique, positioning, wave selection and confidence in different conditions, no matter your experience.

Staying with us
What rooms do you have?
One room type: eight identical double rooms with a double bed, for up to two guests each. Four are on the ground floor next to the pool, four upstairs look out over the rice fields where the sun comes up.
Is breakfast included?
No. There is a fully equipped shared guest kitchen where you can cook whenever you like, plus free-flow Balinese coffee and tea all day. The warungs in Medewi are a few minutes away.
What time are check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 14:00, check-out until 11:00. If the room is not booked before or after your stay, we are always happy to be flexible. Just ask us.
What is there at the house?
A pool in the garden, a rooftop terrace, the shared guest kitchen, board racks with a rinse station and fast Wi-Fi all over the house. See all facilities.
Do I have to take surf lessons to stay here?
Not at all. The surf house is open to everyone: surfers, non-surfers, remote workers and families. Coaching with Daffa is there whenever you want it.
How do I book a room?
Pick your dates and room on our booking page and send your request. We confirm within 24 hours by email or WhatsApp. No payment is needed to send a request.

How much does surf coaching cost?
Per person and session: IDR 450.000 for surf coaching, or IDR 550.000 with video analysis. Packages are cheaper: 5 sessions for IDR 2.100.000 (2.600.000 with video), 10 sessions for IDR 4.000.000 (5.000.000 with video). Video analysis on its own is IDR 250.000. All prices.
What’s included in a surf trip?
Coaching, video analysis and board rental are included on every trip, and we pick the spot based on the day’s conditions. Trips start from Medewi. Pickup from elsewhere in Bali is possible for an extra charge. See all surf trips.
How do I book coaching or a surf trip?
Send us a WhatsApp with your level and dates. We’ll suggest the right sessions or trip and handle everything else. No payment needed to enquire.
Can I change my dates?
Absolutely. If your plans change, just send us a message on WhatsApp and we’ll rearrange your dates, no problem at all.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, bank transfer and Wise. Card payments aren’t available yet. Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll send you all the payment details.
What is your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 14 days before arrival. To confirm your booking we ask for a 50% down payment. If something comes up, talk to us: we always look for a fair solution.
Meeting up & what to bring
On the day
How do I get to Medewi from the airport?
Medewi is about 2 to 3 hours by car from Denpasar airport, depending on traffic. We’re happy to put you in touch with local drivers we know and trust. More tips in our journal: Getting to Medewi.
What should I bring?
A swimsuit, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen and good vibes. We take care of the surf gear.
Where do we meet for the lesson?
Depends on the spot we choose for the day. We’ll confirm the meeting point beforehand, and we’re happy to pick you up around Medewi or Yeh Sumbul.
When are you open / what’s your surf season?
All year. The dry season (April to October) brings the most consistent swell, but Medewi delivers fun waves in the wet season too, often with even fewer people.
What time do the surf sessions take place?
Usually in the morning when conditions are cleanest. We confirm the exact time the evening before, based on tide and swell.
