Red Island Trip

Consistent waves and a relaxed, crowd-free atmosphere, for all levels.

About the trip

Red Island

Red Island (Pulau Merah) sits in Banyuwangi, East Java, one of Java’s best-kept surf secrets: a relaxed, crowd-free destination with consistent waves and unique red-sand beaches.

The waves are well formed and suit all skill levels. Beginners find their feet on the softer, forgiving sections while intermediate and advanced surfers push into the faster, hollower walls. The trip is built around your surfing: guided sessions matched to your level and the swell, daily video analysis and personal coaching. You’ll leave surfing faster, more confident, and reading the ocean better than ever.

Wave height typically ranges from three to six feet, rising to eight during peak season. The best conditions arrive with offshore winds from the south or southeast: clean rides and plenty of room in the lineup. Surf mid to high tide for the best experience; the dry season from April to October brings the most consistent swell.
