West Bali’s most consistent wave — with your own coach

Just 30 minutes south of our home in Medewi, Balian is one of West Bali’s most consistent and rewarding waves. We’ll take you there for private coaching — reading the wave, the tide and the line-up so you get the most out of every session.

Private 1:1 and 1:2 coaching. Best for intermediate and advanced surfers — and, on smaller days, a great place for confident beginners to progress.

Why here

Why surf Balian

Balian is a different wave to our home break — a river-mouth break that peels long and consistently, far from the crowds of southern Bali.

  • One of Bali’s most consistent waves — a deep channel funnels the swell straight in, so even small swells get magnified.
  • Long, peeling walls — the left peels long and slow, perfect for working on turns; the right offers a faster, punchier ride.
  • A wave for stepping up — different peaks and sections to match your level and the day.
  • Far from the crowds — black sand, warungs, sunsets and space in the line-up.
  • Why you want a coach here — Balian breaks over a boulder and river-mouth bottom and the peaks shift with tide and rainfall. Local knowledge makes all the difference.

FAQ

Where is Balian?

On Bali’s west coast, about 30 minutes south of Medewi and roughly 1.5 hours from the airport. If you’re staying around Medewi or Yeh Sumbul, we handle the transfer — you just bring your stoke.

Is Balian good for beginners?

It’s best for intermediate and advanced surfers. On smaller days it can work for confident beginners with a coach — but for first-timers, our soft sandy home beach at Yeh Sumbul is the better place to start.

What kind of wave is it?

A consistent river-mouth break with a long, peeling left and a faster, punchier right over a boulder-and-sand bottom. It picks up plenty of swell, so there’s almost always something to ride — we choose the peak that fits your level.

When is it best?

Balian is one of Bali’s most consistent waves and works much of the year, with the dry season (around May–September) the prime time. We pick the best conditions for your session.

Do you offer video analysis?

Yes — just let us know and we’ll film your session and review it with you.

Do you provide transport and boards?

Yes — transfer from the Medewi/Yeh Sumbul area is included, and we can sort you a suitable board if you need one. Just tell us your height, weight and level when you book.

Is it 1:1 or a group?

Private 1:1 or 1:2 only — never a group. Especially at a new spot, having your coach’s full attention on every wave is what makes the session worth the trip.
