Hey, I’m Daffa
Head coach · Medewi & Yeh Sumbul
I grew up in Yeh Sumbul, right next to Medewi Point. Sumbul Beach and Medewi Point have been my home breaks since I was 10. I didn’t start surfing because someone told me to. I just grew up here, and the ocean was always there. By 15 I was competing, not because I had to, but because I loved it. That feeling of really knowing a wave (where it breaks, how it shifts with the tide, what it does in the morning versus the afternoon), that’s something you only get from years of surfing the same spot.
I’ve coached at a well-known surf camp, freelanced across Bali and worked in Canggu. I’m equally comfortable on a shortboard, twin fin or longboard, and I coach everyone from people catching their very first wave to surfers preparing for competition. I’m also genuinely good with kids. Ocean safety, reading the water, building real confidence: I take that seriously and I make it fun.
As head coach I try to get in the water with every guest myself. I know how much a coach who really knows the wave changes a session, and I want everyone to feel that.

No information overload. Just real progress.
Read the spot
A bit of theory on the beach first: where the wave breaks today, how the tide shifts it and where to sit.
Focus in the water
In the water we work on the one or two things that make the biggest difference that day, nothing more.
See it on video
Add video analysis and we film your waves, then go through them together afterwards so you see what is really happening.
Build on it
Next session we build on what worked. Small steps every day, until it clicks.

Not always solo
I try to surf with every guest myself. When it gets busy, a local coach I grew up surfing with joins us. Never a group: at most two surfers of the same level per coach, 1:1 or 1:2.
