Hey, I’m Daffa
Your surf coach · Medewi & Yeh Sumbul
I grew up in Yeh Sumbul, right next to Medewi Point — this has been my home break since I was 10. I didn’t start surfing because someone told me to. I just grew up here, and the ocean was always there. By 15 I was competing, not because I had to, but because I loved it. That feeling of really knowing a wave — where it breaks, how it shifts with the tide, what it does in the morning versus the afternoon — that’s something you only get from years of surfing the same spot.
I’ve been coaching professionally for over four years — at a well-known surf camp, freelancing across Bali, working in Canggu. I’m equally comfortable on a shortboard, twin fin or longboard, and I coach everyone from people catching their very first wave to surfers preparing for competition. I’m also genuinely good with kids. Ocean safety, reading the water, building real confidence — I take that seriously and I make it fun.
My approach is simple: a bit of theory and spot reading before we go in, focused coaching in the water — just the one or two things that actually make a difference that day — and video review after so you can see what’s happening. No information overload. Just real progress. And I’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Medewi or Yeh Sumbul, so the day starts easy.
